Berguedà Turisme , a member of Emblematic #network and #project(Interreg MED Programme) has been awarded by the ECTN – European Cultural Tourism Network in the category of #industrialheritage. #Berguedà is second in the awards of the ECTN as”#DestinationofSustainableCulturalTourism2018“.
These prizes are organized since 2014 by the ECTN. Every year the theme changes and this year has been the #culturalheritage as an asset for #responsible and #sustainabletourism.
The Agència de Desenvolupament del Berguedà (#Development #Agency) and its #tourism area are working to promote #responsible tourism initiatives at the #private and #public level to improve the region for those who live there and for visitors. Thus, it works with companies and entities in the framework of the #Biosphere #Sustainability #Commitment, it has also entered the GreenDestinations network, among other actions.
In these awards, Berguedà Turisme has received recognition in the category of #Industrial and #Military #Heritage thanks to the preservation of our past and industrial heritage with the examples of the colonies and all the #miningheritage.
The 2018 was designated as the International Year of #Cultural #Tourism and the previous one, in 2017, was the International Year of #Sustainable#Tourism and precisely these prizes picked up the challenge of uniting #CulturalTourism and #Sustainability for the benefit of a territory
This award is a recognition and an opportunity to raise awareness about the contribution of #sustainabletourism development to all stakeholders stimulating all parties to collaborate and generate a positive change in policies, business practices and consumer behavior towards more sustainable tourism and where the #CulturalHeritage has a more important weight.
The ECTN Award increases the visibility of European cultural tourism destinations, creates a platform for sharing experiences and knowledge at European level and promotes the creation of networks between destinations.
