SAVE THE DATE: EMBLEMATIC FINAL CONFERENCE / 31ST OF MAY AND 1ST OF JUNE 2022

Save the date for the Final Conference of the Interreg MED EMbleMatiC PLUS project on the 31st of May and 1st of June 2022, in Litochoro, Greece.

The Final Conference of the Interreg MED EMbleMatiC PLUS project will take place on the 31st of May 2022, in Litochoro, Greece (airport to use: Thessaloniki), in the foothills of the emblematic Olympus mountain. The Conference will be followed by the Steering Committee of the project and a site-visit of Mount Olympus, where the EMbleMatic project made its eco-journey.

You are warmly invited to this conference that will highlight the results of the project and the future challenges and opportunities for the Emblematic Mediterranean Mountains Network. The possible funding tools and the conditions of their implementation will also be discussed.

Stay tuned for more details! It will be possible to attend the Conference via web-platform. In the meantime, have a look at the project’s brochure.

Stromboli – Sicily – Italy –Transferability Diagnostic completed after on-site assessment field visit

 The thematic workshop held during the first transnational meeting in October, provided receivers with the opportunity to have their own visiting experience of two existing eco-itineraries and to provide their own feedback relying on the 30 attributes that eco-itinerary must comply with.

During three months, each receiver worked at bringing local stakeholders together and at exploring all aspects of their future eco-itinerary whilst periodically reporting on gathered evidence to check with the coaching team that suggested choices were complying with the 30 attributes from the TOR.

To welcome the assessing team (givers and assessor), receivers were asked to put together a proposal of a two-day on-site assessment field visit that will reflect the main assets (choices of locations, activities, stakeholders and services) identified at that stage for the creation of their future eco-itinerary.

Foreseen title for future eco-itinerary: “The Fire routes”

Brief summary of future eco-itinerary:

The future eco-itinerary will include three itineraries that will give tourists a complete overview of the whole island. The brown route is a tour of the villages including historic places, aeolian architecture, local handicraft and food and wine tasting.

The green route starts from the village of S. Vincenzo, walking through typical Mediterranean bush reaching up to 290mt where you can admire the Sciara del Fuoco, the persistent Strombolian activity and the sunset.

The blue route starts reaching Ginostra by boat. The itinerary is shaped along a circular route that offers visitors a great variety of landscapes involving geological, anthropological, natural and historical aspects of the area, reaching a panoramic point overlooking the Sciara del Fuoco and the active craters of the volcano.

 The on-site assessment field visit took place on the 2nd, 3rd and of March 2022

 The thematic workshop held during the first transnational meeting in October, provided receivers with the opportunity to have their own visiting experience of two existing eco-itineraries and to provide their own feedback relying on the 30 attributes that eco-itinerary must comply with.

During three months, each receiver worked at bringing local stakeholders together and at exploring all aspects of their future eco-itinerary whilst periodically reporting on gathered evidence to check with the coaching team that suggested choices were complying with the 30 attributes from the TOR.

To welcome the assessing team (givers and assessor), receivers were asked to put together a proposal of a two-day on-site assessment field visit that will reflect the main assets (choices of locations, activities, stakeholders and services) identified at that stage for the creation of their future eco-itinerary.

Foreseen title for future eco-itinerary: “La Vecia via della lana”

Brief summary of future eco-itinerary:

The Vecia via della lana is an old fascinating way that was used in the past to take the wool of the sheeps from the top of the Lessini to the valley to be transformed. The way has been completely restored and it is currently accessible for its entire length of +40km by bike, by foot or by horse. The purpose of our itinerary is to show the beauty of the landscape of the hills and the valleys, with their characteristic vineyards and olive groves. Along the journey it is possible to stop and visit unique places such as the fossils of Bolca and the town of Soave, and to taste the local products such as wine, cheese, cherries and olive oil.

The on-site assessment field visit took place on the 28th of February and 1st of March 2022

Brief summary of future eco-itinerary:

“Secrets of Komovi” eco itinerary is created to boost imagination but also connect visitors with wild beauty of Komovi area, including proud local people, numerous myths and legends that talk about rich cultural heritage, present and test local cuisine.

It consists of several components including visit to local archaeological site in Doclea, historical places such as Mojkovac and pure nature around Komovi.

The on-site assessment field visit took place on the 17th and 18th of February 2022

Brief summary of future eco-itinerary:

Kozjak has a famous route The Cradle of Croatian Dynasty which consist of spots which has historical value and tells a story about Croatian History. That route extends horizontally through Kozjak slopes, and it is long about 17km, and it is not beginner friendly. Plan is to develop vertical lines which connects most attractive spots on existing horizontal route on Kozjak slopes with most attractive spots on seaside (mainly 7 castles in 7 Kaštela). That vertical route will be beginner friendly and suitable for wider groups. It is planned to include Emblematic attributes especially in promoting of the visits to small producers during the eco-journey and emphasizing importance of responsible behaviours on mountain.

The on-site assessment field visit took place on 14th and 15th of February 2022

Unfortunately due to the #COVID19 restirictions an online meeting was held, hosted by Πιερική Αναπτυξιακή, Pieria, Greece.

Partner CETT – UB Formació i Recerca en Hoteleria, Turisme i Gastronomia presented the results of the on-line training sessions and offered partners face-to-face training.

Partners Πιερική Αναπτυξιακή and ADBergueda have presented the methodology for creating an #educational suitcase. Time to elaborate results!!!

Day three of the first transnational meeting of emblematic PLUS project today at ADBergueda, Catalunya Spain. 

Following a warm welcome from Lluís Vall Carrilo, President de Agència de Desenvolupament del Berguedà, it was time for peers-to-peers sessions: feedback on the 2 field visits and concentration on the design of the new future eco-itineraries.

Partners started to prepare the next step for the implementation of the new eco-itineraries, with the support of Interreg MED Programme and Sustainable Tourism Community – Interreg Med.

Second day of the first transnational meeting of emblematic PLUS project today at ADBergueda, Catalunya Spain. 

Partners of Emblematic PLUS project were offered the possibility to interact and observe the pedraforca eco journey!!!
As in the first day, givers and receivers, partners and Associate partners implemented a detailed field visit and study, including recording and assessment of the 30 Attributes an Emblematic eco journey should have!

The 30 attributes of the emblematic eco-tinerary were visited and how they were contributing to the overall concept of an eco-journey was highlighted.

Time for knowledge transfer!!! The 2nd webinar of emblematic plus project (Sustainable Tourism Community – Interreg Med) took place on the 21st of September, with participants of givers and receivers, partners and Associate partners! The 30 attributes of an emblematic eco-tinerary were presented with examples of the existing to the network mountains.

Next to come is the 1st transnational meeting to take place in #canigou and in pedraforca, thanks to Interreg MED Programme.
